Beijing Olympics, Skating Assets

Project Brief

When giving the choice between designing an asset campaign for either a Summer or Winter Olympics event, I was quick to choose
the Beijing Winter Olympics and to focus on my favorite event:
Figure Skating. I was tasked with designing a commemorative
poster, physical tickets, and an access badge.

Process

I started with choosing a color palette that embodied winter and with designing assets that I could use throughout the project. I wanted to go with geometric inspired triangles and crystal shapes in addition
to a recolored Beijing Winter Olympics logo. From there, I compiled event information and started with the poster before moving onto the badge and tickets, bringing in similar and matching elements to each.

Struggles & Takeaways

This was the first larger, several piece campaign I designed in the fall of 2021. Trying to ensure the pieces tied together and looked concise–while still being different–was probably my biggest struggle. But I learned a lot about how to bring in similar elements that still visually connect to different pieces of a campaign, even if they aren’t exactly the same! It helped me as I moved forward in my design experience!
