Playstation Campaign Redesign

Project Brief

For an early design class I took online during COVID, I was tasked with taking a campaign I liked and redesigning it. I’m a huge fan of Playstation and their “Be Who You Wanna Be” campaign really resonated and stuck
with me since its release in 2017.

Process

When looking at the original campaign, I felt it lacked two main things. Diversity and modern games–especially looking at the games used in 2021.
I felt that the whole meaning of being who you want to be through gaming didn’t hit as emotionally because of the lack of representation. With choosing which games to feature, I selected more recently released games.

Struggles & Takeaways

I had to recreate the campaign with new models and game clips in Photoshop without any idea of how the original campaign was created. Despite this, I used reasoning to isolate specific elements of the model and the game before adjusting their appearance of different layers until I obtained the same look. Once I figured that out, I was over the moon to start creating more. When asking outside opinions on which campaign was more effective, I received overwhelmingly positive responses about mine being more effective. One of the biggest responses I received was that people could actually see themselves in my redesign; which is what I went into it hoping to achieve.
